Alex Ekwueme Teaching Hospital Shuts Down As Doctors Embark On Strike

More than two hundred resident doctors of the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, have embarked on a 3-day warning strike.

The hospital management reportedly refused to pay resident doctors arrears of their salary shortfall.

mNaija gathered that the strike has partially shut down work and other activities going on in the Teaching hospital.

Alex Ekwueme Teaching Hospital Doctors on Strike

Speaking to Daily Post, an eyewitness at the hospital said: “Resident doctors of Alex Ekwueme University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki have embarked on a 3-day warning strike.

“The strike is as a result of the refusal of the management of the hospital to pay the doctors their arrears of salary shortfall.”

All efforts to reach the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Emeka Ogah at the time of filing this report was unsuccessful as he was not responding to calls put across to his phone.
