CBN Investigates 77 Companies Over Forex infractions [Full List]

Amidst sustained pressures on Nigeria’s official foreign exchange (forex) resources, the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) has commenced an investigation into companies involved in illegal foreign exchange transactions.

A total of 71 companies from different sectors – healthcare, food manufacturing, agriculture, oil and gas, energy, financial services and trading – are in check for alleged infractions and contravention of extant foreign exchange laws and rules.

According to reports, CBN linked them to foreign exchange deals outside the official Investors & Exporters (I&E) window. The I&E window was created by the apex bank as the legitimate platform for buying and selling of foreign currencies.

There is ongoing investigation to uncover possible cases of illegal transactions, terrorism funding, money laundering, under declaration, among others.
