JUST IN: Emir of Rano is dead
The Emir of Rano, in Kano State, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila II, is dead. He passed away on Saturday at a hospital in Kano at the age of 74.
The emir’s death was confirmed by the Turakin Rano and House of Representatives Member of Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure, Alhaji Kabir Alhassan Rururm.

He said the late emir would be buried this evening in the emirate.
Meanwhile, mNaija learnt that the late Emir of Rano was survived by two wives and 17 children.
Earlier today, it was reported that emir have been sick and hospitalized, at the Amin Kano Teaching Hospital, before been referred to Nasarawa specialist Hospital. The reports did not state whether his illness was COVID-19 related.
The Rano Emirate is one of the four newly created Emirates in Kano State.
