Following the authorization by the Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to telecom operators for NIN enrollment, Globacom Nigeria has commenced NIN registration in its various retail outlets across the country. The mobile operator has now join the likes of MTN and Airtel to participate in the exercise.
The telco provider, Glo said it had begun enrollment of eligible citizens after securing a Nigerian Identity NIMC licence for NIN enrollment.
“We have deployed devices aligned with NIMC standards across several Gloworld outlets and are making immediate arrangements for our other centres across the country to commence. Our objective is to create more opportunities for Nigerians who are yet to enroll for their NIN to do so more conveniently,” the statement read.
It added that subscribers who already have their NIN but are yet to link them with their mobile numbers can do so by simply texting their NIN to 109.
They can also submit their NIN for SIM linkage by dialing *109# or call 109 to update their NIN via voice call.
Earlier, the FG had issued a two- week ultimatum for telco subscribers to update their SIM registration with a valid NIN.
The deadline was then extended by three weeks to January 19, 2021, for subscribers with NIN to link it with their SIM cards and February 9, 2021, for those without NIN.
