Femi Falana

Lawyer and human rights activist Femi Falana got the praise of Nigerians after a video of his interview with AriseNews on issues ranging from the EndSARS protests, lekki shootings to the recent discovery of COVID-19 palliatives around the country, surfaced on social media.

The video in which he questioned the morality behind the hoarding of food items by the government, also had him saying “Our government will have to apologise to the Nigerian people.

Desmond Elliot

Desmond Elliot has again incurred the wrath of many Nigerians after reports that he was fully in support of a proposed bill to regulate social media posts.

The bill is thought to be aimed at undermining the Lekki Massacre & meant to aid the arrest of anyone who tweets about it.

But the Lagos State House of Assembly lawmaker who has been at the center of the controversy has refuted the claim, saying it wasn’t in the jurisdiction of any State House of Assembly, but exclusively at the Federal level.

ln an emotional video, he said his message was only directed at social media influencers & celebrities whom he asked to cut down on the hate narrative since everyone was going through a lot already.

He called out the originator of the report, Dr. Olufunmilayo, and begged that information be verified before posting.

Kaduna

Kaduna State had previously come up on the trends as residents were charged to continue to comply with the 24hour curfew and cooperate with security forces to uphold law and order in the state.

But governor El-Rufai has now relaxed curfews in 21 LGAs, retaining restrictions only in Chikun and Kaduna South.
